In case you’ve been enjoying Dead Take, you might have found that the newest release from Surgent Studios features many recognizable characters.

As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the exceptional talent behind the creative direction of the games I play – and that’s none other than Abubakar Salim, who’s been making waves in both the TV world (House of the Dragon) and the gaming universe this year. His previous masterpiece, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, even bagged the prestigious Game Beyond Entertainment award at the 2025 BAFTA Game Awards!

Salim and his group undeniably possess an extensive network of contacts, seeing as they’ve managed to recruit numerous well-known figures from the gaming industry to lend their on-screen charm to this latest horror project.

In this game, you’ll find that real-life actions are captured, so you’re not only hearing familiar voices but also seeing familiar faces as you progress! Let’s dive deeper and introduce you to the main characters.

Where do you know the Dead Take cast from?

It appears that the talented ensemble is featured in numerous games, series, and movies you adore!

Neil Newbon is Chase Lowry

Neil Newbon is particularly renowned for his portrayal of the popular, sassy vampire Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, it’s important to note that he has also taken on significant roles such as voicing Karl Heisenberg in Resident Evil Village and more recently Lumacchio in Lies of P: Overture.

Newbon also contributed his voice to the fan-created mega mod Fallout: London, but this happened after the developers discovered that he had emailed them about it two years earlier!

Ben Starr is Vinny Monroe

Ben Starr initially made his mark in the gaming world with his role as Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16, and since then, he’s been involved in numerous projects. For instance, he played Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Khazan in The First Berserker: Khazan, and Prometheus as Hades 2.

In the television show Jamestown, airing on Sky, Starr portrayed Dr. Christopher Priestley – a role that coincidentally included Abubakar Salim, the main figure at Surgent Studios, as well.

Lately, it could be argued that he’s given his best performance yet, but Starr has breathlessly animated the Jimbo mascot of Balatro, and he’s been doing some intriguing things with a banana.

Jane Perry is Lia Cane

If you’re a fan of the Hitman series, Jane Perry has suggested that you carry out heinous tasks, for she portrays Diana Burnwood, Agent 47’s handler.

They also portrayed Selene, the protagonist of Housemarque’s Returnal.

Apart from catching Perry in Phantom Thread as Mrs. Vaughan, you may recognize him from his role as Margaret Cunningham in the Sky series, Devils.

Alanah Pearce is Victoria Case

In the game Cyberpunk 2077, Alanah Pearce portrayed the role of Lana Prince, a character whom the main character, V, encounters following their discovery that she owns an old vehicle of V’s.

Based on your chosen dialogue, you might have spoken harshly towards Pearce. It’s worth noting that Pearce is a well-known figure in the gaming media scene.

Laura Bailey is Zara Good

Laura Bailey is primarily recognized for lending her voice to the co-lead character Abby in The Last of Us Part 2. Additionally, she provided the voice for Mary Jane Watson in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

In situations other than gaming, you might recognize Bailey providing the voice for Vex’ahlia in The Legend of Vox Machina.

Sam Lake is Frank Gardeu

As a passionate gamer myself, I’m recognized for my role as the Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment, the innovative Finnish studio behind some of the most thrilling gaming experiences out there. From the gritty intensity of Max Payne, to the eerie suspense of Alan Wake, the supernatural control in Control, and the time-bending action of Quantum Break, I’ve been fortunate to be part of bringing these incredible games to life.

In the initial installment of the Max Payne series, the character’s appearance was based on a particular individual (similar to how Lake lent his likeness). If you’ve played Alan Wake 2, you would also be familiar with him as the tough-as-nails detective named Alex Casey.
