In the 2025 TV schedule, NBC’s One Chicago is currently on a summer break, leaving fans of Chicago Fire wondering about the cast changes following two major departures. However, fans won’t have to wait until fall for an answer about one of those spots. Chicago Fire has cast Brandon Larracuente, who was recently featured in a Wolf Entertainment TV show, as a series regular for Season 14. This new character is expected to fill the roles previously held by Daniel Kyri’s Ritter and/or Jake Lockett’s Carver at Firehouse 51. Get ready to meet Brandon Larracuente on Chicago Fire!
Although “On Call” wasn’t included in the extensive Dick Wolf TV universe that airs on both NBC and CBS, it did star cast members from “One Chicago,” such as Monica Raymund and Eriq La Salle. In fact, La Salle had expressed his hopes for a second season to TopMob earlier. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled in May, but can still be streamed with an Amazon Prime Video subscription. Following the cancellations of “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted,” this marked the third cancellation of a Wolf series during the spring. This paved the way for Brandon Larracuente to join “Fire.
The former graduate of “On Call” has been chosen to play a regular character in “Chicago Fire” Season 14, Deadline reports, although specifics about his character are still unknown other than he will be an important part of the 51 family. Given that Jake Lockett (Carver), Daniel Kyri (Ritter), and Stella’s emotional pregnancy reveal in the Season 13 finale, it seems likely that Brandon Larracuente is joining as a new firefighter for Truck 81. (You can catch up on the finale now with a Peacock subscription.)
After the finale, it’s unclear why Ritter left, but Carver’s role was established instead. This leaves room for Stella to potentially have some positions to fill on Truck. However, since she’s pregnant, it’s uncertain how long she can continue her active duty. If the show follows its typical pattern of skipping time from May to September, Stella might already be working desk or EMT duties, similar to how Dawson was during his brief pregnancy before Monica Raymund left the show.
In summary, Larracuente’s character appears to be in a state of chaos upon entering a firehouse, but at least Severide managed to resolve Pascal’s legal issues by the end of Season 13. It is worth noting that negotiations for the new location of On Call are not yet finalized. If there is indeed a Season 2, Larracuente’s character’s absence could be most easily explained due to how Season 1 concluded.
Chicago Fire is coming back to NBC during the fall, continuing its usual slot at 9 PM Eastern Time every Wednesday night for Season 14. As has been the case before, Fire will be aired between Chicago Med at 8 PM ET and Chicago P.D. at 10 PM ET. The expected return date is late September, similar to previous years. However, if you can’t wait, you can catch up on earlier episodes of all three series on Peacock in the meantime.
