In the gruesome French feminist thriller ‘Revenge,’ Matilda Lutz delivered an impressive first performance, which makes her an excellent choice for the lead role in the Red Sonja reboot, previously held by Brigitte Nielsen. A sneak peek at her can be seen in the new Red Sonja (2025) trailer, where she takes on a fierce barbarian persona embarking on a mission in this action-packed fantasy film adaptation of the popular comic book series.
Under the iron rule of a cruel despot determined to annihilate her kin, the fierce archer Red Sonja assembles an eclectic band of fighters to confront Dragan The Magnificent and his lethal companion, Dark Annisia.
In the cast of this film, you’ll find Matilda Lutz sharing the screen with Robert Sheehan (known for his role in The Umbrella Academy), Michael Bisping (famous from Den of Thieves), Wallis Day (recognized for her work in Sheroes), Luca Pasqualino (renowned for Skins), Martyn Ford (acclaimed in Final Score), Rhona Mitra (noted for Underworld: Rise of the Lycans), and Veronica Ferres (familiar from The Bricklayer). Tasha Huo, who has worked on The Witcher: Blood Origin, is responsible for writing the script, while MJ Bassett, known for Solomon Kane, takes on directorial duties for Red Sonja.
Red Sonja is available on Digital HD 18th August and on DVD & Blu-ray 8th September.
