An overlooked RPG from 2008 is receiving an upgrade this year, thanks to developers SparklingBit and publishers THQ Nordic. Specifically, SparklingBit is set to introduce this remaster, allowing players on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X to travel back 17 years to the times of the Xbox 360 and PS3. This journey back in time is slated for Q4 2025, meaning it will occur between October and December of this year.
The game being discussed is Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, which was initially published by Ascaron and Deep Silver. This game is a sequel or prequel to the 2004 release of Sacred. Upon its initial release, it received mixed reviews and didn’t appear to generate much excitement. However, in 2014, it was followed by Sacred 3, which ended the series on a lackluster note. It’s quite unexpected that Sacred 2 is receiving a remaster in 2025.
In this latest update, you’ll find all additional content, as well as a more fluid and reactive battle system, an updated user interface, improved textures, fresh lighting effects, and expanded view distance. Interestingly, the multiplayer feature is exclusive to the PC version. The console editions will be playable in single-player mode only.
In the official description of the game, it’s stated that Ancaria is on the edge. The enigmatic energy source T-Energy, which once brought wealth, now fosters corruption, strife, and disorder. Amidst war and treachery, six champions emerge – each with their unique destinies, talents, and journeys through a dynamic, alive world.
In essence, the game’s official description is as follows: “Welcome back to the remastered version of the cherished action RPG Sacred 2: Fallen Angel! Explore a sprawling fantasy world brimming with numerous quests, challenging dungeons, and distinctive combat skills. Engage in fierce battles against colossal beasts, unravel ancient mysteries, and mold your character through loot, leveling, and extensive personalization. The remaster offers enhanced combat mechanics, a sleek user interface, full controller compatibility, and all expansions bundled together. Whether you’re revisiting Ancaria or embarking on it for the first time, prepare to create your legend! The destiny of Ancaria hangs in the balance.
At present, we don’t have any information about the price of the upcoming remaster upon its release. Additionally, there’s currently no news regarding any other remasters in the series.
