In San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the Season 2 trailer for the Gen V series unveiled several cameos from characters of The Boys’ universe. Among them, Erin Moriarty as Starlight/Annie January takes a prominent role in the upcoming season, asking Jaz Sinclair’s character Marie to halt an enigmatic research project known as Project Odessa. During an interaction with TV Insider, Sinclair expressed her enjoyment of working with Moriarty and mentioned that their collaboration was enjoyable on set. Furthermore, she hinted at Marie’s response to Starlight’s appeal for assistance and the character’s growing wariness in the future.
Sinclair explained that Marie has only encountered Starlight through media and is currently in a difficult predicament. He went on to describe the scene where Marie appears to be getting beaten up, then Starlight arrives and proposes a mission with unknown details. Marie doesn’t know this girl well, so there seems to be a mix of curiosity, flattery, and wariness in her response. In other words, she’s both excited by the prospect but also questioning if she can trust Starlight enough to embark on this mission.
Michele Fazekas, the showrunner, has confirmed that Season 2 of Gen V picks up after the events depicted in the finale of The Boys Season 4, titled “Homelander’s America.” The season begins with a time jump. In the final episode of Season 1, Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (the late Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) are seen waking up in captivity together within an enigmatic location. This location is revealed to be Vought’s Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center, a place Fazekas describes as the “last place” anyone would want to end up.
Fazekas pointed out that each individual begins at a unique starting point and isn’t all in the same spot. They find themselves in a place we were warned about in Season 1 – Elmira, a place you don’t want to end up according to what was said earlier. However, not everyone winds up there.
As a devoted fan, here’s my take on paraphrasing the official description for Gen V Season 2 in a more relatable and first-person style:
“In the second season, I find myself back at Godolkin University as life outside continues to adapt under Homelander’s strong grip. A new Dean with an intriguing philosophy (Hamish Linklater) takes charge, promising students an unprecedented boost in power. My friends Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) have gained fame as heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma return to college, still grappling with the pain of past trauma and loss. Yet, amidst the parties and classes, a looming conflict between Humans and Supers threatens to overshadow everything. We discover a clandestine program that traces back to Godolkin’s inception, which could have far-reaching consequences than we initially thought. And, surprisingly, Marie seems to be entangled in it.
Beginning Wednesday, September 17th, the initial three episodes of Gen V season 2 will debut on Amazon’s Prime Video, with subsequent weekly releases leading up to the season finale on October 22nd. Currently, you can stream seasons 1 of Gen V and the first four seasons of The Boys on Prime Video.
