The first season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder revealed the hidden secrets of Little Kilton, as Pip discovered the truth behind Andie Bell’s disappearance five years prior. The cast says the second season, based on the book Good Girl, Bad Blood, will be even more intense and disturbing.
I’m really invested in this new case with Pip! She’s trying hard to lay low after the mess of her last investigation, honestly just wanting a break. But things never seem to go smoothly, do they? Right when Max’s trial is about to start, Connor’s brother Jamie vanishes, and Pip gets pulled into this incredibly dark mystery. It’s got everything – revenge, a really unsettling catfishing scheme, and the worst part? A child murder. It’s shaping up to be a seriously gripping story.
Asha Banks, who plays Cara, explained to TopMob that while they were all familiar with the source material, it was great to explore the story’s complexities and more unsettling aspects during filming.
As the credits finish, the shocking truth is revealed: Pip’s new neighbor, Charlie, is actually using a false identity – “Layla Mead.” He created this online persona while searching for “Child Brunswick,” the son of the man who murdered his sister – a serial killer responsible for multiple child deaths.
The discovery is disturbing enough on its own, but things get even more shocking when it’s revealed the killer involved his own son in the crimes, using him to attract victims. This son turns out to be Stanley, whose birth name is actually Jack.
Banks described Holly’s writing as skillfully building complex stories that ultimately resolve in a surprising and satisfying way. She explained that reading the book felt like encountering unexpected characters and then, at the very end, having everything suddenly click into place, revealing the complete picture and making the initial complexity disappear.
“And especially watching it, is so thrilling. It’s very satisfying, but also shocking.”
Eden H Davies, who portrays Jamie, commended the powerful and authentic scenes created by Jackson’s writing, particularly after his character is tricked into thinking he’s communicating with the actual Layla online.
“I think the audience, as well as the characters, evolve their opinion over time,” he explained.
A major secret is revealed, and I believe both the characters and the audience begin with one understanding that changes as the story unfolds.

Even Henry Ashton, who portrays the unlikeable character Max, was surprised by how the story ended.
He admitted he was completely surprised. Holly is really skilled at keeping things secret; normally, you could guess what’s going on by looking at clues in stories, books, or on TV, but she’s just too good at concealing her thoughts.
Even though Jude Morgan-Collie, who plays Connor, already knew what happened in the story because it came from a book, he still found the reveal exciting.
He explained that people were interpreting the story differently and reacting to it as they heard it read aloud. While everyone enjoyed the initial read-through – especially given it was a mystery – there was still a strong emotional response at the end, even though many had already read it themselves.
Although the central mystery is resolved, Pip is profoundly affected by Stanley’s death, which Charlie causes before escaping capture. This emotional distress is worsened when she finds a threatening message on her computer.
One of the actors said they couldn’t believe what was happening to the character and in the town itself. They described a series of unbelievable events, particularly focused on her experiences.
She shares a special connection with Ravi and her friends, a bond they’ll never quite grasp the way she does. She’s gone through a significant transformation, and is now navigating the consequences of that change.
Morgan-Collie also hinted at a more ominous direction for Pip moving forward.
He noted a noticeable shift in Pip’s character towards the end of the series, even in the visual style of the final scenes. He’s eager to see how Emma Myers portrays this darker side of the character.
