After Tifa, I Really Want These 5 Guest Characters In A Street Fighter Game

There’s been a lot of talk this week about a possible surprise addition to Street Fighter 6: Tifa from Final Fantasy as a downloadable character. Street Fighter has featured guest characters before, often from other fighting game series like Fatal Fury and Final Fight. However, adding Tifa would be a significant step, as she’s from a different genre and a completely different company. While unusual, this kind of crossover isn’t new – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate famously included characters from many franchises, including several from Street Fighter.

Now that Nintendo is adding guest characters to its games, it would make sense for Street Fighter to do the same with other popular Capcom characters. Figures like Morrigan from Darkstalkers or Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil could easily fit into the fighting game. While crossovers already happen in games like Marvel vs. Capcom, these characters would be true ‘guest stars’ because they’re central to their own franchises, and each has a unique personality, potential moves, and backstory that would make them great additions to Street Fighter.

Goro

When considering Sega characters to battle against the cast of Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter seems like the natural choice. However, Goro Majima from the Yakuza: Like a Dragon series would actually create a more exciting matchup. Majima has become a wonderfully strange character, and his fighting style – a mix of powerful attacks and silly pirate moves, especially in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – would feel right at home in the Street Fighter universe.

Goro, as depicted in recent Yakuza games, really embodies the over-the-top, eccentric energy that Street Fighter is known for – he can seamlessly switch between realistic grappling and wild combo attacks. He’d also be a great addition to the Street Fighter universe, fitting right in with its cast of unique characters, from martial arts experts to power-hungry villains and monstrous fighters.

King

Both Street Fighter and Tekken have a history of characters appearing in each other’s games. Street Fighter X Tekken in 2012 brought many characters from both series together, and Tekken 7 featured Akuma from Street Fighter as a guest. Now, Street Fighter 6 has a chance to do the same, and King, the professional wrestler from Tekken, would be a great addition to the game’s unique style of fighting.

Although a match between Jin and Ryu would be exciting, King would be a better fit for the game’s fighting style. His fast-paced grappling and strong attacks would create a compelling contrast to characters like Zangief, showcasing a close-range combat style that could overwhelm quicker opponents with powerful strikes. King’s competitive nature also aligns well with the world of Street Fighter, and it would be fun to see him succeed in that environment.

Mario

Mario is a legendary video game hero, and he’s been battling characters from other franchises in the Super Smash Bros. series for years. But Mario usually only appears in games made by Nintendo. It would be great to see him fight opponents beyond just Ryu, and his classic cartoon style could look fantastic with the colorful, animated look of the Street Fighter games.

As a huge fan, I was so excited to see Ryu and Ken join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it got me thinking… wouldn’t it be amazing to see Mario show up in a Street Fighter game? It’d be a really fun way to see how he stacks up against those different fighting styles. Plus, Nintendo and Capcom have worked together a lot over the years, so it just feels like a natural fit. I’ve always wondered if Mario’s fireballs could actually go head-to-head with Ryu’s Hadoken – it would be a dream come true to see that!

Scorpion

As a long-time fighting game fan, the rivalry between Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat has always been huge for me. They basically defined the arcades back in the day, and we were always debating who was better – Scorpion or Ryu! So, imagine how awesome it would be to actually see one of them in the other’s game! I think Scorpion would be a fantastic addition to Street Fighter. His moves are so brutal and focus on keeping opponents at a distance, which would make for a really cool contrast to Ryu’s style.

It would be really interesting to see the look of Mortal Kombat combined with the style of Street Fighter. Imagine one of fighting games’ most famous characters redesigned in a way we’ve never seen before! It would also be fun to see how Street Fighter handles a character usually known for being so violent, especially since the series hasn’t traditionally embraced that level of brutality.

Goku

Okay, I know what you’re thinking – Goku in Street Fighter? Seems totally broken, right? But honestly, the Street Fighter characters have pulled off some seriously crazy stuff themselves over the years. Plus, Goku’s got a huge range of fighting styles, which could lead to an awesome and really versatile moveset. Think about it – Dragon Ball FighterZ basically borrowed a lot from Street Fighter already, so it wouldn’t be that weird to see Goku actually work as a playable character in a Street Fighter game. He could be a really cool addition!

Just like a match between Ryu and Scorpion would appeal to longtime fans, a crossover with the Street Fighter universe feels natural for both franchises. Goku would be thrilled to test his skills against the diverse fighting styles of Street Fighter‘s characters. The potential addition of Tifa suggests Street Fighter could explore many guest characters, and Goku could really push the boundaries of that concept.
