Alan Tudyk is providing his take on why no one knows he is legend.
In simpler terms, the actor who portrayed a character in the movie “I, Robot” revealed that he was excluded from the promotional materials for the 2004 film. This was because the initial audience tests of the blockbuster didn’t favor his scenes, specifically those where he appeared alongside Will Smith as Del Spooner.
Alan shared during a recent interview on the “Toon’d In with Jim Cummings” podcast that many people were unaware he voiced Sonny the Robot in the movie “I, Robot, and there is a reason for this.” During testing audiences for the film, characters were rated based on their performance. Alan was informed that his character scored higher than Will Smith’s, leading to him being cast instead. However, after this, he was no longer needed in the project.
Reflecting on my experiences at 54, I can’t help but recall instances where I was not merely featured in promotional materials, but rather, there was an intentional absence of any fanfare or recognition. As I look back, I find myself reminiscing about times when my name was intentionally left out of the limelight, with no publicity to speak of.
“I was so shocked,” he continued. “I was like, ‘Wait, nobody is going to know I’m in it!’”
For Alan, taking on that role proved quite demanding, as it involved both motion capture and voice acting performances in front of the camera. In the end, what he truly desired was some acknowledgment for his efforts.

The actor from Resident Alien shared that they invested a great deal in their recent performance. They described feeling as if they needed to dance like a machine. At the moment, they were quite frustrated.
Alan’s exit from the promotions of “I, Robot” brings to light a larger issue for him, as he feels that voice acting often goes unacknowledged in the industry as a whole, having been an actor in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Alan described a particular acting technique as follows: “I was inside the room, and I was the one driving the action. I moved back and forth with the actor, and my voice became part of the environment that everyone was observing.
