Disney is famous for its movies and theme parks, but it’s also become a major player in animated TV shows. Series like Phineas & Ferb, Gravity Falls, and The Owl House have made the Disney Channel a go-to for original animation. Among these shows, Amphibia gained a dedicated following during its three seasons on Disney’s channel. Now, the creator of Amphibia, Matt Braly, is getting ready to revisit that world with a sequel that fans have eagerly awaited.
The animated series Amphibia concluded in 2022 with a satisfying ending and a look at what the characters’ lives would be like a decade later. Now, creator Matt Braly has announced the story will continue in a new comic book series called Amphibia: Strange Voyage, a collaboration between Disney and publisher TokyoPop. Braly recently shared that the comic will focus on the Plantar family, particularly the dynamic between Ivy and Sprig. He described how Ivy is excited for a new adventure together, while Sprig is still preoccupied with memories of their human friends. The comic will also explore the characters’ ongoing grief and adjustment after losing their human companions, with each character coping with the loss in their own way.
Amphibia Will Return

Want a preview of the new Amphibia comic series coming out this November? Tokyopop describes it as a fun and exciting adventure into unknown lands, perfect for both fans of the show and new readers! The story picks up years after Anne saved Amphibia and returned home. Now, the Plantars are embarking on a voyage to discover a new continent, but their journey leads them to a strange island full of unexpected secrets.
Matt Braly, known for the show Amphibia, is revisiting that world with a new comic series. However, he’s moved on from Disney animation and is starting his own studio called Fantasy Project. His first project with the new studio is Clara And The Below, a very different kind of story than Amphibia. It’s a darker reimagining of the classic Nutcracker tale, and he’s funded it through a successful Kickstarter campaign. Braly is excited to be working independently and exploring new creative directions outside of Disney.
