Anthony Bourdain’s Intense Origin Story Revealed In A24’s Tony Trailer

A24 is bringing Anthony Bourdain’s story to life.

A new trailer has been released for A24’s upcoming film, Tony. The movie tells the story of a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain and his summer working in a restaurant kitchen in Provincetown, an experience that significantly impacted his life. Tony is directed by Dominic Sessa and stars Emilia Jones, Dagmara Dominczyk, Rich Sommers, Stavros Halkias, Leo Woodall, and Antonio Banderas.

The family of the late Anthony Bourdain has shared a statement regarding the upcoming film celebrating his life and work.

Anthony Bourdain left a lasting impact on many people. He always prioritized genuineness, and while he’d likely appreciate the interest in his life, he might also find it surprising.

We decided to back the film TONY because it’s not a typical life story. Instead of trying to cover Tony’s entire life, director Matt Johnson focuses on one pivotal summer in 1975, set in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The film offers a unique take on this period of his life, acknowledging that some parts will always remain a mystery.

We were moved by the film’s depiction of Tony’s depth, his eagerness to learn, and his strong beliefs – traits that ultimately led him around the world and made him beloved by many. We hope this film reminds viewers that everyone starts somewhere, and inspires them to see the origins of the man who taught us all how to be more adventurous in our own lives.

More to come…
