During the recent ID@Xbox event, DON’T NOD, the developer of the upcoming game Aphelion, released a new trailer. Instead of showing how the game plays or what the story is about, the trailer is designed to create a spooky and unsettling mood.
The trailer opens with Thomas investigating what looks like an empty building. Suddenly, a bizarre event causes ice to form around him. At the same time, Ariane is still trapped inside her spaceship. They’re separated and lost, and need to find a way to get back together and return home.
Ariane’s sections of the game will emphasize physical challenges like climbing and jumping, while Thomas will focus on solving puzzles and using logic. The latest trailer clearly demonstrates these different styles of gameplay.
The game Aphelion released a new trailer in February showcasing the unique gameplay styles of its two main characters. The trailer also introduced Nemesis, a mysterious creature visualized as distorted electromagnetic waves.
The game Aphelion is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later this year. It was first announced in June 2025, but DON’T NOD hasn’t announced a specific release date yet. You can watch the trailer from October 2025, which highlights the character Nemesis, in the meantime.
