Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Showcases Incredible Fidelity in New Underwater Gameplay

Ubisoft said they were making significant changes to the underwater gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, focusing on letting players dive wherever they want. Now, thanks to a new gameplay video from IGN, we’ve seen those improvements, and they look fantastic.

The game starts with Edward diving underwater to find treasure, but players can also choose to simply float and enjoy the beautiful sights, like the jellyfish. Later, he goes on a quest that involves searching for medicine, even removing his clothes to do so. While exploring a shipwreck and opening a chest, he’s suddenly pursued by a shark that has caught his scent.

Next, you’ll need to avoid the enemy’s attacks. The timing might seem difficult, but the game has options to help – you can turn on auto-completion or use quick-time events through the accessibility settings. If you prefer to stay underwater, look for air barrels, or you can simply enable unlimited oxygen.

On July 9th, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced arrives on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it still looks fantastic. You can see more gameplay footage – including the impressive weather effects powered by Atmos and Edward Kenway’s acrobatic skills – here. For a deeper dive, check out our detailed feature.
