Sometimes true love really does start by sliding into their DMs.
Dylan Sprouse once sent a message to model Barbara Palvin after meeting her at an industry event in 2018, but she didn’t respond for almost a year. He was hoping to connect with her, but she left him waiting a long time.
He told W Magazine that after noticing the 32-year-old had followed him on Twitter, he messaged her, saying something like, ‘If you’re in New York for a while, we should hang out. Here’s my number.’ Surprisingly, she didn’t respond for six months.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen so many relationships bloom, and sometimes it’s about timing. This particular woman, who’s incredibly striking, was very deliberate with who she chose to date. Despite being linked to high-profile guys like Lewis Hamilton and Justin Bieber, she felt a real connection with this one person – but she was cautious, wanting to protect something special. She told me she really took her time, recognizing she wasn’t in the right headspace before, and secretly hoping this could be something truly meaningful.
I’m so thrilled for them! This couple, who got married last year, just shared the amazing news on Instagram that they’re going to be parents! It feels like they’re building a beautiful life together, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.
This is the newest development in the couple’s story, which first began when they posed together for a photoshoot with W magazine in 2019.
Here’s the short version of how it happened: The 33-year-old actor took a job filming Turandot, a production by Xiaolong Zheng, in China for six months because he didn’t want to appear to be struggling for work.
He doesn’t like to pursue people. If someone doesn’t respond after he gives them his number, he’s immediately not interested. He had to miss the grand opening of his meadery in Brooklyn because of his time away, but it was worth it – he reconnected with Palvin. He was just starting to wonder what had happened with her when she finally texted him.
Cole Sprouse, known for his role on the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, recently married Hungarian model and Giorgio Armani ambassador, Debby Ryan. The couple tied the knot in Hungary just weeks after publicly announcing their engagement, which had been kept secret for several months.

Palvin’s first post sparked a flurry of activity, and the multilingual model—fluent in Hungarian, German, English, French, and Japanese—quickly became comfortable navigating the digital world.
I’ve always struggled with texting and flirting because I find it hard to express myself in writing,” she told W magazine. “But with Dylan, it just felt natural and effortless.
Okay, so I’ve been following their story for ages, and it’s just so cute! Apparently, after chatting online, I mean, she was dying to meet him in person to see if they had that same spark. She actually booked a flight to China! Can you believe it? And then the job she was supposed to do there fell through, but she still didn’t cancel her trip! She even told People magazine she was worried about whether it was crazy to still go, but he basically begged her to come, saying ‘Please come!’ Seriously, how adorable is that?! It just proves he felt it too!
She initially said no when he asked to be exclusive, but she confessed she knew she wanted to be with him from the very beginning. As soon as they met, she realized he was the one. She remembers thinking, ‘Why am I waiting? He has everything I’m looking for, and I can’t imagine loving anyone more.’
By August 2018, Palvin publicly confirmed their relationship by celebrating the actor’s birthday and playfully hinting that he was the best gift she’d ever received.
Now that they’d officially confirmed their relationship, they happily shared photos online from their August trip to her home country, Hungary. While they enjoyed seeing the sights of Budapest, the best part of the trip was getting to spend time with her family.
While traveling, Sprouse learned some Hungarian, especially everyday phrases. He also followed model Palvin’s advice to always say yes to offers of sausage and pálinka, a traditional Hungarian fruit brandy.
It’s been surprisingly easy for Cole Sprouse to support his girlfriend, Barbara Palvin, at public events. After first appearing together at a New York Fashion Week party in September 2018, they’ve become a familiar sight on red carpets. One particularly memorable moment was when Sprouse showed up at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with a Shake Shack bag, delivering Palvin’s favorite post-show treat after she walked the runway.

He’s the enthusiastic fan always front and center, constantly cheering her on. He jokingly threatened to embarrass her with his loud support, and she was secretly glad her family had seen the show beforehand.
He told TopMob News he was incredibly proud when she appeared just weeks after fracturing her foot and following months of recovery from endometriosis surgery. He couldn’t have been more pleased with her resilience.
He told TopMob that she’d be able to handle it once the pressure was on, but he was still worried about her.
As for the after party…
Cole Sprouse shared with TopMob News in 2019 that he and his partner enjoy trying new restaurants, but when it comes to a typical date night, they prefer to keep things simple. He described their ideal evening as watching anime, relaxing at home, and sharing ice cream – that’s what they enjoy most.

Of course, as two, young, attractive public figures, duty calls at times.
In February 2019, they attended the Vanity Fair after-Oscars party, hoping to mingle with other rising stars, but especially to meet Cole Sprouse, Dylan’s brother. Cole hadn’t yet met Palvin because he was busy filming Riverdale in Vancouver.
Even when he and Palvin are apart, they stay connected. “We make sure to FaceTime each other every day,” she shared with ET in 2019. “We also text a lot and send funny memes back and forth.”
She always responds to his messages now. Here are some adorable photos from their relationship over the years.
