Ubisoft is planning major improvements for older Assassin’s Creed games, following their recent success in updating several Far Cry titles. After unexpectedly releasing performance patches—bringing 60 frames per second gameplay—to Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft is reportedly considering a similar overhaul for the Assassin’s Creed series.
Reporter Tom Henderson says Ubisoft is now focusing on improving frame rates for its Assassin’s Creed games, and Assassin’s Creed Unity might be the first to get an upgrade to 60fps. While Unity launched in 2014 with a lot of bugs and performance problems, making it a poorly received game, opinions have changed over time. Many now consider it one of the better Assassin’s Creed titles, and a 60fps upgrade could make it even better and attract a new wave of players.

While Henderson didn’t specify which other Assassin’s Creed games might receive a 60fps upgrade, past updates give us a good idea of what to expect. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Origins, and Odyssey have already been updated to run at this framerate, so they likely won’t be prioritized. This suggests that older titles like Assassin’s Creed III, Rogue, or the games starring Ezio could be updated along with Unity.
The next major Assassin’s Creed game, currently called Codename Hexe, is still being developed, but Ubisoft hasn’t shared any updates on it recently. We might learn more about its release plans sometime in 2026. Before Hexe comes out, Ubisoft is also reportedly working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, though recent company changes seem to have caused a delay in its development.
