While a remake of the beloved Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynched – is on the way after 13 years, it feels like an odd move for the series. Black Flag is considered one of the best installments, but revisiting the past instead of pushing forward with new ideas could be a worrying sign for the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II discussed how Denzel Washington’s performance in ‘Man on Fire’ inspired his own work on the series. He called it one of his favorite films starring Washington. Abdul-Mateen II explained that he focused on building a strong foundation for his character, rather than comparing himself to previous portrayals. “I wanted to figure out what I loved about the role and what I wanted to bring to it,” he said. “When I’m being authentic and enjoying myself, and I feel successful, everyone benefits.”
