In a recent interview with News Picks in Japan, Chief Godzilla Officer Keiji Ota explained that this new initiative, called “Godzilla World,” will allow Toho to develop spin-offs based on original ideas, alongside films like those directed by Hideaki Anno and Takashi Yamazaki. While only Godzilla Minus One is currently confirmed, Toho has plenty of existing monsters and stories to build upon, particularly leveraging the universe established in Takashi Yamazaki’s recent film.
