It’s been a while since we’ve seen truly funny comedies like those from the Farrelly brothers. After filmmakers like Mel Brooks and the team behind ‘Airplane!’, they were among the last to make wildly inappropriate, but hilarious, movies. Luckily, Peter Farrelly seems to be returning to that style, first with ‘Ricky Stanicky’ – featuring a great performance by John Cena – and now with his newest film, judging by the trailer for ‘Balls Up‘.
This outrageous comedy follows marketing guys Brad (Mark Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser) as they attempt a wildly daring sponsorship deal: condoms for the World Cup. Their wild celebration in Brazil quickly turns into a huge scandal, and they’re forced to run from angry fans, dangerous criminals, and corrupt officials, all while trying to save their jobs and their lives.
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Paul Walter Hauser, Benjamin Bratt, Eva De Dominici, Daniela Melchior, Molly Shannon, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Eric André. It’s written by Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, the team behind the popular Deadpool movies, which is a promising sign for this new film. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Andrew Muscato, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese all served as producers.
