Battlefield 6‘s Season 2 update, called Hunter/Prey, is now available. This update focuses on intense fights over control of a satellite network and includes a new set of challenges for the Battle Pass. The highlight of the update is the addition of a brand new vehicle and weapon.
A new armored vehicle called the LTV is now available, letting players transport up to four squadmates safely to the front lines. It also features stations for restocking ammunition. For close-range fights, players can use the new Ripper 14-inch knife, perfect for hand-to-hand combat.
The update introduces a new, temporary game mode called Operation Augur. This mode features two linked maps where players fight to capture and hold objectives. The action begins on the Contaminated map, where players can use VL-7 Smoke (originally from the Nightfall event), and then moves to Hagental Base, focusing on intense close-range battles. A trailer showcasing Operation Augur was released earlier this month.
Okay, so the last big update for Battlefield 6 was called Nightfall, and it really shook things up. They added a ton of new stuff to both the regular multiplayer and the battle royale mode, REDSEC. The coolest part, honestly, was this new map called Hagental Base. It’s completely built underground, which is super unique, and it’s awesome for flanking because you can blow holes in the walls and ceilings to get around!
REDSEC discovered a new location on the map called Defense Testing Complex 3, located at Fort London. This hidden facility, described as a secret chemical testing site beneath the main battlefield, features a tunnel system where combat can occur.
The Nightfall update added two new weapons for close-range combat in Battlefield 6 and REDSEC: the CZ3A1 SMG and the vz. 61 automatic pistol.
In a recent interview, Justin Wiebe, design director at Ripple Effect, stated that the team developing Battlefield 6 is actively listening to player feedback after the Nightfall update. He explained that they are responding to this feedback and plan to continue doing so for the foreseeable future, constantly working to improve the game based on what players are saying. They’ve been receiving a lot of helpful input from the community.
We don’t have a rigid plan we’re sticking to no matter what. Instead, we’re flexible and willing to adapt based on what players are saying, how the community is responding, and what’s happening in the game itself.
Even though Battlefield 6 has been generally well-received, EA recently underwent several layoffs. The company is calling this a restructuring process, and a spokesperson assured fans that Battlefield remains a key focus for them.
We’ve reorganized some parts of the team working on Battlefield to focus more closely on what our players want. Battlefield is still a top priority for us, and we’re continuing to invest in the game, using feedback from players and testing through Battlefield Labs to guide our work.
Battlefield 6 and Battlefield: REDSEC are available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
