Beast of Reincarnation’s Story, World and Monsters Discussed in New Video Interview

So, Game Freak just dropped a new video during the PC Gaming Show 2026 about their upcoming game, Beast of Reincarnation, and it looks awesome! The director, Kota Furushima, walked us through the game’s world, the story, and gave us a peek at some of the characters. I’ve linked the video below – definitely worth checking out if you’re excited about this game like I am!

According to creator Furushima, the world of Beast of Reincarnation is facing destruction from a spreading force called the Blight. This Blight infects all life – both plants and animals – and turns them into the Malefact, or the Corrupted.

The Blight originates from a creature called the Beast of Reincarnation. Emma, the main character, and her dog, Koo – who is also a Malefact – team up to defeat it.

Furushima explains that the Blight has left humanity living among the remnants of a lost civilization. To survive, people have established colonies inside mountains, as the Blight continues to spread across the world.

Emma, the main character, can control plants because she’s also been affected by the Blight. Unfortunately, this connection to the Blight has caused her to lose her memories and emotions, leading people in the colonies to fear her. Despite this, Emma uses her plant-based powers to combat the Blight itself.

According to Furushima, every aspect of the game – from the story and combat to the art, sound, and technology, as well as the voice acting – has come together to create a unique experience. The game centers around Emma, a protagonist who has no memories or feelings, and her quest to understand emotions. She teams up with Coo, a creature who should be her enemy, and together they begin a journey. The gameplay combines strategic control of Coo’s abilities with fast-paced sword fighting as Emma, and Furushima hopes players will discover the ending for themselves.

Just heard that Beast of Reincarnation is dropping on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 4th! If you’re thinking of picking it up, you can find out how much it costs and pre-order it now.
