Nightdive Studios has finally announced a remastered version of the classic stealth game, Thief: The Dark Project. Originally created by Looking Glass Studios, this updated version will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and 4, PC, and both Nintendo Switch models. You can watch the first trailer, shown at the PC Gaming Show, below.
Get ready to step back into the shoes of Garrett this winter – potentially December 2026 or early 2027 – as he returns to his signature stealth tactics: picking off enemies from a distance and moving unseen. Powered by the new KEX Engine, the game will feature stunning 4K resolution and a smooth 120 frames per second, and it will also support today’s popular game controllers.
The game now features immersive rumble and motion controls, plus gyro support for a more interactive experience. A redesigned weapon wheel makes it simpler to switch between Garrett’s tools. It includes all the content from both the original Thief and its expansion, Thief: Gold, with updated enemy animations and textures. The levels themselves have also been subtly improved.
With the ability to replay any mission and enjoy custom campaigns right from the start, Thief: The Dark Project Remastered offers a fantastic way to experience this classic game. We’ll share a release date soon, so stay tuned for more updates.
