Fraser Olender suffered a recent health scare from smoking.
The Below Deck star, 33, shared that he experienced a serious side effect from vaping—a heart attack.
Fraser recently shared on Instagram that he was hospitalized for a week after experiencing severe chest pain and trouble breathing. Doctors eventually determined he had “vape poisoning,” officially known as E-cigarette or Vaping-Associated Lung Injury. He explained that his heart attack was caused by several health problems, all linked to his vaping habit.
I had a heart attack caused by something in my vape pen. It triggered a sudden and severe tightening of the arteries that supply blood to my heart, which drastically reduced blood flow. This isn’t the typical heart attack caused by a blocked artery; instead, my heart wasn’t getting enough oxygen due to the artery spasm, as doctors explained to me in the hospital.
Despite all the complex medical terms, Fraser described the experience plainly: “I’ve never felt such fear or pain.”
Okay, so he hates even talking about it, he said it’s totally ‘not chic,’ but he felt he had to share what happened. He just really, really wants to help anyone else who might be struggling with this… this awful thing he escaped. He thinks if his experience can get just one person to stop, it’s worth it, you know? It’s just… so important to him.
I’m so glad to be on the mend, and I wanted to share my story because I honestly never thought something like this could happen to me. If talking about it can make just one person reconsider vaping, then it’s all been worth it.
Having gone through a very difficult experience, he now hopes others can avoid facing the same hardship.
He stated he quit vaping immediately after this experience and doesn’t plan to start again. He described the 24 hours of pain as unbearable and warned others that vaping isn’t worth risking their lives for, urging them to quit completely and right away.

Despite maintaining his usual playful demeanor, he emphasized the seriousness of the situation.
He admitted they didn’t fully understand what had happened, but emphasized, “That was absolutely not okay, even if it served the story.”
Oh my gosh, everyone’s reacting to Fraser’s big news! Captain Sandy actually said “No way! You have been blessed!” – can you believe it?! And Katie was so sweet, sending him love and saying those people are the worst and that he’s so brave for sharing. I’m seriously living for all the support he’s getting, he deserves all the good things!

Someone on X (used to be Twitter) messaged me, asking why I haven’t been posting lately. It really caught me off guard! She wrote, ‘Suki, you never tweet anymore!’ and then… well, then she confessed she’s been dealing with a hernia she got from wearing super tight pants six months ago, and she’s been too afraid to mention it to me. Honestly, it was a total shock, and I just feel for her!

While the internet isn’t always a kind place, Amy Schumer is happy that, in this case, it helped her get answers.
“The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press, and I was like, ‘OK everybody, relax,'” Amy recalled of her “puffier” face on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors were chiming in in the comments and they were like, ‘No no, we think something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy that we think something’s up. And I’m like, ‘Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?’”
After these doctors said they thought she had Cushing syndrome and that it may be caused by spiking coritsol levels or steroid injections, the Life & Beth creator thought, “Wait, I have been getting steroid injections in my scars.”
“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, whatever, and so I was getting these steroid injections,” Amy said. “So it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard.”
Toda, Amy is just relieved she’s OK. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Finding out I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I’m healthy was the greatest news imaginable.”

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

Oh my gosh, I was SO worried about Hailey! Can you believe what happened to her? She was just having breakfast with Justin in March 2022, and she started having this terrifying episode. She said Justin noticed something was wrong and kept asking if she was okay, but she couldn’t even answer! She tried to speak, but the words just wouldn’t come out, and the right side of her face started to droop. It sounded so scary! Thankfully, it stopped, but she went to the hospital, and they found out she’d had a tiny blood clot to her brain – they called it a TIA. But that wasn’t even the whole story! Turns out, she has a small hole in her heart – a PFO – and that’s how the clot got to her brain! It basically ‘escaped’ through the hole and caused the TIA. Thankfully, she had a procedure to close it, and she says she’s feeling amazing now! I’m just SO relieved she’s okay. It was such a scary time for all of us fans!

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey appeared on Good Morning America in June 2022 and said Justin was recovering well, adding that the situation had been frightening but he was going to be okay and she was thankful he was fine.

Jamie Foxx initially kept his health issues private after being hospitalized in April 2023, but he later shared what happened. He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin. Before he could take it, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star shared that she temporarily stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like ‘dying’.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather before everything went dark. Afterwards, she experienced a bright light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the show, she experienced a severe headache at the gym that quickly escalated. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
After a week, her speech returned, and she was discharged from the hospital a month later. However, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure failed, causing a major bleed, and doctors warned her survival was at risk. They had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she’s “at a hundred per cent.”

I’m so glad Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is doing better! She went through a really tough time earlier this year. Back in January 2024, she had a severe stroke, and thankfully, her family was incredible. She actually texted them right away with a picture, and everyone immediately came to her side. She ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected because of some existing health issues – she also deals with lupus and her kidneys were failing. But she’s on the mend now, and told Will Marfuggi from TopMob News that she’s doing great! She just had to work on regaining some motor skills, but overall, she’s feeling good. It’s so heartwarming to see her recovery, and I’m sending all my support to her and her family.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue – unable to walk for more than five minutes without needing hours of rest – and persistent stomach pain. She faced confusion due to conflicting diagnoses from different doctors.
Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has kept the specific condition private, combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted for ten years.
The physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body. However, after focusing on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now doing much better. She shared that the issues have resolved and she is very healthy and happy.
