A popular manga artist is returning to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine with a new series, following a previous attempt two years ago. Shonen Jump recently announced three new manga launching in the coming weeks, starting with Animal Signal. Now, fans are getting a first look at the next series and the returning creator behind it.
This month, Shonen Jump magazine is launching three new manga series. One of them, HAL FORMULA by Kento Terasaka, will debut in the next issue. While Terasaka’s previous series was cut short in 2024, he’s getting another opportunity with this new release. Shueisha has offered a sneak peek at HAL FORMULA, which you can find below.
HAL FORMULA Reveals First Look at Shonen Jump Debut
Kento Terasaka’s new series, HAL FORMULA, will launch in the June 15th issue of Shonen Jump magazine. The series looks promising, offering a unique combination of sports and racing – a genre not often seen in Shonen Jump, and one the magazine is looking to feature more of. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what HAL FORMULA has to offer.
Kento Terasaka’s previous series with Shonen Jump, Green Green Greens, launched in 2023 but was unfortunately cancelled after about 30 chapters and six months. While the golf-themed series was unique—golf hadn’t been a main focus in the magazine for a long time—it didn’t attract a large enough audience for Shueisha. Hopefully, his new project will be more successful.
What’s Ending in Shonen Jump Next?
With the upcoming launch of HAL FORMULA and the recent debut of Animal Signal, plus another new series on the way, Shonen Jump is starting to feel crowded. It’s likely that either another series will be cut—following the five already cancelled this year—or a currently running series will conclude naturally in the next few weeks.
It’s a bit bittersweet, but so many of my favorite Shonen Jump series are wrapping things up! Sakamoto Days, Blue Box, Witch Watch, and Hima-Ten have all hinted that their stories are coming to an end, and it feels like a big shift is happening in the magazine. I’m really curious to see what the rest of the month brings and what other changes we might see!
