A fresh illustration of Captain America 4‘s concept art unveils the antagonists, which were initially intended but later excluded from the film’s final edit – specifically, the Serpent Society. The Anthony Mackie-led Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters in February 2025. Despite a promising start, it garnered mixed responses from critics and had an unremarkable run at the box office. Directed by Julius Onah, the movie also featured Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, and other notable actors.
Serpent Society villains cut from Captain America 4 revealed in new art
A recent social media post unveiled a new concept art for Captain America 4, featuring villains that didn’t make it into the final film. These antagonists were reportedly part of the Serpent Society, slated to clash with Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Captain America.
User @blackbearuwandi posted an image on Instagram about his upcoming project, “Captain America Brave New World,” which is still in development. He discussed a concept they had for Captain America fighting against the Serpent Society, sharing numerous ideas that didn’t make it into the final movie. He thanked artist @ianjoynerart for collaborating with him on this project.
In the artwork, Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson (also known as Falcon), and Danny Ramirez’s character, Joaquin Torres, are depicted among a group of villains with a serpent motif. Eagle-eyed fans might also notice Seth Rollins’ character, initially included but ultimately omitted from the final version.
In Captain America: Brave New World, The Serpent Society was noticeably absent. Yet, Giancarlo Esposito portrayed Seth Voelker, also known as Sidewinder, who leads the society in the comic books.
Earlier, director Julius Onah explained why Seth Rollins’ Sepernt Society character didn’t end up in the final version of the film. Speaking with Collider, he said, “Regarding Seth Rollins, his character was intended for the movie’s opening. Seth is a fantastic actor and I would love to work with him again. However, as we fine-tuned the movie, it became apparent that certain aspects of the original Sepernt Society character needed to align more closely with the overall tone of the film.” Onah also mentioned they wanted to focus on refining Esposito’s character instead.
