Cartoon Network has been doing well with its show revivals lately, especially with Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, which brought Mordecai and Rigby back into the spotlight. This summer, they’re continuing that trend with Adventure Time: Side Quests, a series focusing on Finn and Jake’s childhood. Interestingly, a revival of another popular Cartoon Network show didn’t move forward, but the creator of Chowder has now shared some concept art and details about what that potential return could have looked like.
CH Greenblatt, the creator of Chowder, once proposed a reboot of the show to Cartoon Network, titled Chowder: First Course, geared towards a younger audience. The new series would have followed Chowder, Panini, and Gorgonzola as they learned the basics of cooking. Greenblatt shared some artwork he created for the pitch, explaining it was done around 2024 after he finished working on Jellystone. The original series’ chef, Mung Daal, was also planned to return if the reboot had been approved.
Chowder’s End
Chowder, which originally aired on Cartoon Network from 2007 to 2010, followed the adventures of a young chef learning to cook and create amazing dishes. The show won one Emmy Award and received two nominations, but hasn’t been renewed for new episodes. While it’s no longer available on HBO Max or Tubi, all three seasons of this quirky and imaginative series are currently streaming on Hulu, so you can still enjoy it!
While creator C.H. Greenblatt may not create new Chowder episodes, he recently paid tribute to classic Cartoon Network shows. He contributed to the series Jellystone, which revived beloved characters from Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network. Notably, the special event Crisis on Infinite Mirths featured a wide range of returning characters, including a quick appearance by Chowder.
Last year, we spoke with animator Carl Greenblatt about the possibility of bringing back the show Chowder. He said he’d be happy to work on it, and that Warner Bros. has already considered some ideas. Ultimately, whether or not it happens depends on finding the right time and enough funding, but he’s definitely interested and wouldn’t rule it out.
