Hulu has successfully brought back several popular shows, like Animaniacs and Futurama. Last year, the fourteenth season of King of the Hill premiered on the platform and quickly became a hit, though it was eventually surpassed by another revival: The Amazing World of Gumball. That show returned and became Hulu’s most popular new series in 2025. Recently, observant fans have noticed an update suggesting that more The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball is on the way.

Freddie Elsom, a storyboard artist from The Amazing World of Gumball, recently announced on LinkedIn that a third season is now in production. While it doesn’t give fans a specific release date, it’s encouraging news for those eager to see the show return. The second season of the Hulu revival finished in late 2025, and although a new season isn’t expected this year, Hulu has confirmed that both seasons three and four are planned.

Gumball’s Bright Future

Last year, executive producer Matt Layzell explained how they created episodes for the revival of Gumball. They focused on three main types of stories. First, they’d draw from relatable, real-life experiences – things they or people they knew went through, like awkward moments or funny family situations. Second, they’d tackle current social issues with a comedic twist. And third, they’d create experimental episodes, using unique animation styles or focusing on a particular character to tell a wild story. When planning each season, they made sure every episode fell into one of these categories and was as good as it could be.

The recent seasons of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball have continued the quality of the original series, much like what happened with Regular Show: The Lost Tapes. The return of the original creative team and voice actors has kept the show’s style consistent. Gumball has been popular with both viewers and critics, and its move to Hulu suggests it will continue for a while. While the original series ran for eight seasons, this new version still has time to build on that success.
