Rumors are circulating, thanks to Daniel Richtman’s Patreon, that The Hand – a secretive and powerful group obsessed with achieving immortality – might be returning in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Interestingly, Daredevil doesn’t seem to be involved this time. Some fans speculate this could be Marvel’s attempt to redeem the storyline after the Netflix series’ less-than-ideal handling of it. However, it’s more likely they’re simply introducing a new group of compelling villains, which would also allow for Frank Castle (the Punisher) to continue his vigilante activities within the film’s PG-13 rating. There’s still a small hope that Daredevil might at least make a cameo appearance in Brand New Day.
This week marks the 16th anniversary of the release of Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, which premiered on December 11, 2009. The film was groundbreaking as it introduced Disney’s first and only Black princess. It was also one of the last Disney movies created using traditional hand-drawn animation, before the studio shifted towards computer-generated imagery, as seen in Tangled (released a year later). Despite its popularity, plans for a sequel have unfortunately been cancelled.
Warlock is the next game from Invoke Studios, the team behind Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. Invoke Studios was acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2019, and while Dark Alliance didn’t get great reviews, they haven’t released a new game since. Warlock will be another attempt at a Dungeons & Dragons video game, and hopefully the developers have used what they learned from the previous game to make this one better. Patterson has extended his contract with 20th Television and 20th Television Animation. Patterson will continue to lead the King of the Hill revival as executive producer and showrunner, and he’s also developing new live-action and animated projects for Disney Television—some of which are already underway.
