A new rumor is circulating about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but this one has fans particularly excited. It suggests a potential fix for how Marvel handled Daredevil when the rights were with Netflix – something fans have been hoping for since then.
Rumors are circulating, thanks to Daniel Richtman’s Patreon, that The Hand – a secretive and powerful group obsessed with achieving immortality – might be returning in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Interestingly, Daredevil doesn’t seem to be involved this time. Some fans speculate this could be Marvel’s attempt to redeem the storyline after the Netflix series’ less-than-ideal handling of it. However, it’s more likely they’re simply introducing a new group of compelling villains, which would also allow for Frank Castle (the Punisher) to continue his vigilante activities within the film’s PG-13 rating. There’s still a small hope that Daredevil might at least make a cameo appearance in Brand New Day.
This News Fuels A Few Theories

One Reddit user believes the large number of villains in the story is due to its focus on a street-level war, especially considering the weakened state of New York after the events of “Born Again.” They point out that street wars typically involve various criminal elements – mob bosses, thugs, corrupt police, and organized crime syndicates like The Hand – all vying for control. It seems Spider-Man and the Punisher are attempting to restore order, but disagree on how to do it. The role of the Hulk remains unclear, with speculation that a villain might manipulate him, similar to how Loki and Wanda were used. Another fan emphasized The Hand’s history in the comics, noting they’ve fought numerous heroes, not just Daredevil, and suggesting it’s unrealistic to limit them to a single neighborhood conflict.
It would be incredible to see an epic street fight finish off the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline on screen. A battle like that could help bring Spider-Man back to his roots as a neighborhood hero, rather than the universe-traveling superhero he’s been lately.
