The Outer Banks set reportedly grew heated.
According to reports from TMZ and People, an incident happened on October 22nd during filming where executive producer Jonas Pate allegedly physically assaulted a female production assistant. Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes reportedly stepped in to intervene.
I was really shocked to read this in People magazine. Apparently, Jonas, one of the creators of the show – along with his brother Josh Pate and Shannon Burke – had a terrible outburst on set. They said he yelled at a production assistant and even physically shook her, which is just awful. It’s hard to believe, honestly.
According to TMZ, the incident happened while the show was filming its last season in Croatia. The report states that there was already tension on set before the disagreement. Chase reportedly stepped in to break things up, and Madelyn also tried to calm the situation down.
TopMob News has contacted Netflix and representatives for Jonas, Chase, and Madelyn for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.
Since its debut on Netflix in 2020, Outer Banks – the story of a group of North Carolina teens who become treasure hunters – has quickly become a popular show on the streaming service.
The show features Madelyn and Chase, along with Drew Starkey, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathan Daviss, and Carlacia Grant. Jonas’ daughter, Lilah Pate, who also stars in the new show The Runarounds, has made appearances on the series as well.
Following a dramatic season four finale in November – which saw the character JJ, played by Rudy, killed off – Jonas, Shannon, and Josh announced that the show’s fifth season would be its final one.

We always envisioned a five-season story full of mystery, adventure, treasure hunting, and strong friendships,” the creators shared on the Outer Banks Instagram account. “Seven years ago, completing a five-season arc felt like a distant dream, but now, at the end of season four, we’re still making it happen!”
We’re finishing up Season Four with a mix of sadness and excitement as we move into Season Five. We’re hoping to give our characters, the Pogues, the ending we’ve always envisioned.

Following the news, Chase shared a message to the show’s loyal fans.
It’s tough to share this, but after five amazing years, it’s time for one last adventure,” the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to all of our incredible fans. Your support has meant the world to us, and we’re so grateful. We’ll always be Pogues for life!”
