During the 1990s, Nickelodeon became popular on cable television thanks to its original animated shows, affectionately known as “Nicktoons.” While many of these series, such as Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and SpongeBob SquarePants, have finished their runs, the characters remain beloved. Mondo, a company known for reimagining classic entertainment figures, is now bringing one of Nickelodeon’s most famous characters – a wallaby – back for a new look.
The classic Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life premiered in 1993 and followed Rocko as he navigated everyday life while working at a comic book store. The show featured Rocko’s friends Heffer and Filbert, along with a memorable group of quirky characters. Now, Mondo is releasing a new line of collectible figurines based on the show, including Rocko, Heffer, Filbert, Spunky, and a crow. While a release date hasn’t been announced yet, you can get a sneak peek below, and more details are expected soon.

Rocko’s Past And Future

I was a huge fan of Rocko’s Modern Life back when it originally aired on Nickelodeon – fifty-two episodes just weren’t enough! So, I was completely blown away when Netflix brought Rocko and his friends back in 2019 with Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. It was so clever! The movie filled in the gap between the series finale and now, showing how Rocko ended up lost in space trying to find his way home. And the biggest surprise? Ralph Bighead was actually Rachel Bighead! Talk about a twist! Sadly, we haven’t seen anything new set in that world since the movie, but Rocko still pops up here and there, which is awesome. It’s great to see this classic still being remembered!
Nickelodeon characters often experience a resurgence in popularity thanks to new video games. Later this year, Nickelodeon will release Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis: Next! for PCs and consoles, featuring characters from shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats, Avatar: The Last Airbender, CatDog, The Wild Thornberries, Invader Zim, Danny Phantom, and Hey Arnold! Rocko is confirmed as one of the fifteen playable characters at launch. Because past Nickelodeon games have added more characters through downloadable content, the roster could expand in the future.
