A new rumor is circulating about the release date for Gears of War: E-Day. Xbox plans to reveal a lot of details about the next Gears of War game, including the launch date and new gameplay, during a dedicated presentation on June 7th. However, an insider may have leaked the information early for those who can’t wait.
According to reliable leaker @TheGhostOfHope, who has a history of accurately predicting Call of Duty information, Gears of War: E-Day is expected to launch in September. The leaker mentioned this while discussing the potential release window for this year’s Call of Duty game. When a user suggested a September release for the 2026 Call of Duty, @TheGhostOfHope clarified that Gears of War: E-Day is currently slated for that month instead, implying Xbox will likely avoid releasing two similar games so close together.

Releasing Gears of War: E-Day in September would be a smart move for Xbox, following the pattern of previous games. Gears 5 was also released in September 2019 and was very successful, making the same timeframe a logical choice for E-Day.
As an Xbox fan, I’m really excited about the fall lineup! It’s not just about Gears of War: E-Day – we’re also getting the new Call of Duty, which is going to be huge, and Fable looks amazing too. It seems like Xbox is planning to space these big releases out so they don’t all come out at once. Releasing Gears of War: E-Day in September would give them the rest of the fall to launch the other games and give each one some time to shine.
Currently, the only confirmed detail about Gears of War: E-Day is its 2026 release on Xbox Series X/S and PC. While a PlayStation 5 version hasn’t been announced, it’s possible it could be released in the future, considering Xbox has recently been making games available on multiple platforms.
