Fans have been anticipating Code Vein 2, the sequel to the 2019 action RPG, and it promises a thrilling adventure through time. Players will travel to locations like the Sunken City, a place over a century in the past. Alongside Josée Anjou, you’ll explore the Sunken Pylon dungeon to uncover the source of a mysterious pollution.
The developer recently released a guide demonstrating the core combat mechanics. It covers different weapon types, such as the Halberd and new Dual Blades, and introduces Forma – powerful abilities that can be used for both defense and offense, even including long-range attacks. Forma requires Ichor to function, and you can obtain Ichor by using ‘Jails’. Activate Jails by pressing or holding the R2 button to drain enemies, causing substantial damage and replenishing your Ichor supply.
I’m really getting into the different Jails in this game! Each one has its own unique way of attacking – like the Ogre Jail with its two bitey hellhounds, or another one that just sends a swarm of bats at you from far away. Plus, your companion isn’t just there for show; they can help in fights, but you can even absorb them to make yourself stronger and tougher!
The adventure concludes with a challenging fight against the creature responsible for polluting the Sunken City – a being Josée seems to know something about. It’s a spectacular battle featuring lasers and powerful stomps, but ultimately, our heroes are victorious.
Code Vein 2 will be released on January 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players who are eager to get a head start will be happy to hear that a free character creation demo will be available on January 23rd. This demo allows you to design characters that you can then use in the full game, and even explore and take photos in the starting area, Magmell Institute.
