Relic Entertainment is remastering its classic real-time strategy game, Company of Heroes, with improved graphics and features. The updated version, called Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition, was revealed in a new trailer, which you can watch below.
The Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition will include all the content from the original Company of Heroes, such as its three story campaigns, four different armies to play as, and over 50 maps for both online multiplayer and solo skirmishes. The game will also have improved gameplay, a more user-friendly interface, and updated graphics with better textures and lighting.
Relic has confirmed that the upcoming Definitive Edition of Company of Heroes will also support mods created for the original game, even older ones designed for 64-bit systems. This means the existing modding community won’t be left out.
Released in 2006, the original Company of Heroes received a lot of praise for its innovative gameplay. Unlike many strategy games where you build up a base, Company of Heroes gives you resources by having you capture and hold key points on the map. This system pushes players to constantly engage in combat and fight for control.
After the game was first released, two expansions were added: Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor. Both expansions improved the original game and its multiplayer mode by including new maps and playable groups.
Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition is coming to PC. However, it doesn’t yet have a release date.
