After a long wait, the release date for Control Resonant has finally been confirmed.
The game comes from beloved auteur Sam Lake and his studio, Finland’s Redemy Entertainment.
After the devastating events of the 2019 game, where the Hiss destroyed the Federal Bureau of Control, Resonant has a high bar to clear.
Here’s a complete guide to everything you need to know about Control Resonant, including the release date, how to pre-order, and what to expect from the gameplay.
When is the Control Resonant release date?
Control Resonant will release on 24 September 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
A new trailer revealed during the June 2026 Sony State of Play confirmed the game’s release date.
A September release makes sense, as most film studios are trying to avoid competing with the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 in November.

Control Resonant gameplay and story details
Instead of being a third-person shooter like the first game, Control Resonant is an action RPG.
In this game, you play as Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother. He’s been sent by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) to Manhattan to combat dangerous supernatural forces like the Hiss and the Mold, all while searching for his missing sister, Jesse.
Dylan fights with a weapon called the Aberrant. Similar to Jesse’s Service Weapon, it can change into different shapes – like a large two-handed hammer or a pair of blades – giving him versatile combat options.
Just like other games from Remedy, Resonant will likely have many connections and references to their previous titles, especially Control and the Alan Wake games.
Here’s how the developers themselves describe the game:
Following years of being held captive by the Federal Bureau of Control, Dylan Faden finds himself in a strangely altered Manhattan just as a major paranormal event is unfolding.
Dylan is tasked with stopping a strange, powerful being that’s changing reality itself. He’ll need to learn to control his newly discovered abilities and defend Manhattan from the many dangers appearing as a result.
Is there a trailer for Control Resonant?
Yes! The game was first revealed with an announcement trailer during The Game Awards 2025.
