Remedy Entertainment didn’t announce a release date for Control Resonant, the sequel to the popular game Control. They did, however, share a detailed look at new gameplay, showing off how the character Dylan moves and fights.
The most remarkable thing about this character is their shape-shifting weapon, the Aberrant. It helps them navigate the chaotic streets of Manhattan and can change into different forms for combat. It can become a massive sword or hammer to deal heavy damage, or even a powerful fist to send enemies flying.
While many enemies are easy to defeat, some pose a real challenge. One flying enemy, in particular, attacks with lasers and bombs and isn’t affected by Dylan’s close-combat attacks. Fortunately, Dylan can jump onto its back to strike a vulnerable spot, or even perform a special finishing move while dealing with shifting gravity.
More dangers are coming, most notably the Resonants – the creatures that give this sequel its title. The one we see is incredibly quick, demanding precise timing, and manages to keep up with Dylan in a truly terrifying way.
Remedy is planning to release even more content later this year, and so far, it looks like they’re delivering on their promise of making Control Resonant their biggest and most innovative game to date. Keep an eye out for more details before it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
