We’ve always hoped to see a live-action or animated/live-action version of the classic Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoon. Now, after it seemed like the movie was made but then cancelled, we finally have a trailer for ‘Coyote vs. Acme’!
What to expect from the Coyote vs Acme trailer…..
Wile E. Coyote, constantly foiled in his attempts to catch the Road Runner by faulty ACME products, decides to sue the company. His lawyer soon discovers that his old, tough boss now runs ACME, and the two team up to win the lawsuit against him.
The film, which reportedly cost $70 million to make, was canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery and written off as a $30 million loss, meaning it would never be released. It was one of three projects – along with Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt – that the studio decided to eliminate for tax purposes. Before it was permanently shelved, the cast and crew were allowed a special, final screening.
Fans and filmmakers alike were eager for this movie to be released, and it’s easy to see why – the cast includes popular actors like John Cena and Will Forte, as well as Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán. Last year, Ketchup Entertainment bought the rights to distribute the film worldwide and playfully jabbed at the original studio with the tagline, ‘The Movie ACME Didn’t Want You To See.’
“Coyote vs. Acme” will open in US and UK cinemas on 28th August 2026.
