Crazy Taxi: World Tour Reveal Trailer Takes the Series Worldwide

The classic arcade game, Crazy Taxi, is returning after a long break and being unavailable on mobile devices. The latest installment, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase and will soon be available on current gaming platforms.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour Is the First Console Entry in Decades

The classic arcade game, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, is planned for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC around 2027. Sega hasn’t announced any specific dates or further information yet.

The trailer, featuring The Offspring’s song “All I Want,” shows fast-paced driving through San Francisco combined with game footage and story scenes. Towards the end, a character gives the main character a ticket that sends them outside of the Bay Area and to locations around the world, which explains the game’s subtitle.

You can find more information about the game on its Steam page. Players will take control of Axel, one of the original characters, as he chases down the people who stole his taxi. The game will feature five unique cities, each designed for thrilling stunts like drifting, jumping, and high-speed driving.

Sega says the game will have an engaging story with quirky characters and diverse missions. Players can use the money they earn from completing missions to customize their taxi. These story missions are separate from the Arcade Mode, which focuses on quick, time-based driving for cash. The game will also include online multiplayer, and Sega strongly suggests it will allow players on different platforms to play together, though they haven’t shared many specifics.

For a long time, everyone’s known a new Crazy Taxi game was likely on the way. Sega has hinted at its return recently, even showing a brief preview at The Game Awards in 2023. There have been reliable rumors for years, and while some have proven true, others remain unconfirmed.
