Crunchyroll Hidden Gem Fantasy Confirms Sequel After 2 Years With First Teaser

Crunchyroll is gearing up for a huge summer, especially at next month’s Anime Expo, where they’re expected to make some exciting announcements. They’ll be highlighting popular series like Gachiakuta, Demon Slayer, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, The Apothecary Diaries, and Witch Hat Atelier, among others. But that’s not all – Crunchyroll is also bringing back a long-awaited series that many fans thought would never get another season. The new season will once again take viewers into a fantastical world, and fans have been eagerly anticipating it for years.

If you’re a fan of fantasy, the story of Sasaki and Peeps might sound familiar – it involves someone unexpectedly transported to a magical world. However, this story has a unique twist! Sasaki adopts a pet bird, only to discover it’s actually a powerful wizard reborn. Studio Silver Link is planning to release the second season of this series later this year, though the exact date hasn’t been announced yet. You can watch the new trailer for the show below to get a sneak peek.

Peeps & Sasaki: A Match Made in Heaven

If you’re looking for a new anime, here’s what you need to know about Sasaki and Peeps, which premiered in 2024. Sasaki, a tired office worker, goes to a pet shop hoping to find a friend. He finds Peeps, a cute little bird, but soon discovers Peeps is actually a strong mage from another world! Together, they set off on a magical adventure with swords and spells.

Originally appearing as a novel in 2018, Sasaki and Peeps rapidly expanded into light novels, manga, and an anime series. With the story still ongoing, there’s a good chance enough source material exists for future seasons, potentially starting with a third. Given the current popularity of the isekai genre, a return for the series would be well-timed. Fortunately, the original voice cast will be back, including Tomokazu Sugita as Sasaki, Aoi Yuki as Pii-chan, Rie Takahashi as Hoshizaki, Akari Kito as Otonori-san, and Miyu Tomita as Elsa.

Silver Link, the animation studio behind this exciting new series, has quickly become a major player in the anime world. They’ve recently animated popular titles like Mission: Yozakura Family, Ragna Crimson, and The Misfit of Demon King Academy, among many others.
