D4vd’s legal journey continues.
David Anthony Burke, known professionally as the singer, appeared in court three days after being charged in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The charges include murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. He has denied all charges.
Okay, so I was following the hearing on April 23rd, and it’s just… awful. Apparently, the prosecutor, Beth Silverman, said they found a ton of really disturbing stuff – child abuse images – on D4vd’s iCloud account. Like, a ‘significant amount,’ she said. And get this – they’ve only gone through one terabyte of the eight terabytes that are up there! It’s just… I can’t even process it. It’s heartbreaking and honestly, terrifying to think about what else they might find.
The prosecutor explained that, due to security rules, they can’t directly give D4vd’s legal team the sensitive images. However, the defense lawyers are welcome to view the evidence on a secure computer at the courthouse.
TopMob News has reached out to attorneys for D4vd for comment but has not yet heard back.
Previously, his legal team expressed its commitment to proving his innocence in Celeste’s death.
According to his lawyers, Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, the evidence will demonstrate that David Burke did not kill Celeste Rivas Hernandez and wasn’t responsible for her death. They stated on April 20th that they will strongly defend his innocence.
Celeste’s family members did not attend the hearing. Before the court date, their lawyer told TMZ they were deeply upset by the recently released autopsy results – described as disturbing and graphic – which came out on April 22nd.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled the death of Celeste, who was found the day after her 15th birthday, a homicide. She died from multiple stab wounds.
According to the autopsy report obtained by TopMob News, Celeste suffered penetrating wounds to her left chest and upper abdomen. Tests also showed the presence of benzodiazepines (used for anxiety and seizures) and methamphetamine/MDMA (ecstasy/molly) in her system.
Although the medical examiner determined how and when the person died back in December, the LAPD had a court order that blocked them from sharing the details until today.
Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo stated he was relieved to finally share this information with both the public and the family who have been grieving. He acknowledged the long wait for answers about their daughter’s death has been incredibly difficult for them.

On April 16th, D4vd was arrested as a suspect in Celeste’s murder. Her remains had been discovered seven months prior in a Tesla registered to him.
Beyond charges of murder and sexual abuse, the complaint against the singer, known as “Romantic Homicide,” also states that he used a dangerous weapon – a sharp object – during the crime. This is considered a serious addition to the charges.
On April 20th, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman released more details about the crimes D4vd is accused of committing.
I’ve been following this case for years, and it just gets worse. Apparently, David Burke started abusing Celeste when she was just a kid – barely fourteen! And it wasn’t a one-time thing, it went on and on. The worst part? When Celeste finally found the courage to threaten to expose him – to ruin everything he’d worked for – he… he murdered her. He actually murdered her, then chopped her body up and stuffed it into bags in his car’s trunk. It’s horrifying. Absolutely horrifying. I can’t even imagine what she went through, and the fact that someone could do something so monstrous… it just breaks my heart.
D4vd remains in custody without bail as the legal process progresses.

D4vd, whose full name is David Anthony Burke, was born in Queens, New York, and later moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of 13.

D4vd started his online career by streaming games like Fortnite, hoping to become popular on YouTube. In 2021, he faced issues with copyrighted music in his videos, so he asked his mom for help.
I remember reading an interview with him in Hero magazine back in September 2024, and it was so relatable! He told Benny Blanco he was seriously struggling, actually venting to his mom about being broke and not knowing what to do. It was funny because she was on the phone while he was pouring his heart out, and she basically told him to stop complaining and just make his own music! He said that’s when it clicked for him – he realized he could actually do that.
D4vd, who hadn’t had any formal musical training beyond singing casually, began creating music using an app on his phone. His songs quickly gained popularity online, and after several of his tracks went viral on TikTok, his music career really started to flourish.
He finally put out his first album, Withered, in April 2025, and quickly followed it up with his first tour around the world.

On September 8th, police were sent to a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a bad smell coming from a car, according to NBC News sources.
Los Angeles police discovered human remains inside a Tesla’s front trunk. The car was registered to David Anthony Burke, known as the artist D4vd, and was linked to an address in Hempstead, Texas.
According to police, the car was towed to the impound lot after being left abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on September 16th that the remains found in a Tesla belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April 5, 2024. She was 13 years old when she disappeared and officials believe she was 14 at the time of her death.
In April 2026, authorities ruled the death a homicide. A medical examiner’s report obtained by TopMob News revealed she died from multiple stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, including a liver injury. Although her body was found on September 8th, investigators believe it had been in the car for a significant amount of time beforehand and was badly decomposed.

After learning about the death of Rivas Hernandez, a representative for D4vd told NBC News that the singer has been notified and is working with law enforcement while continuing his tour.
Since then, D4vd canceled the remainder of his U.S. dates.

On April 16, 2026, the Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of D4vd in connection with the murder of Rivas Hernandez.
Los Angeles police have arrested 21-year-old David Burke in connection with the murder of Celeste Rivas, according to a police spokesperson. Burke is currently being held without the possibility of bail.

D4vd faces charges including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and the unlawful mutilation of human remains, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office released on April 20th.
According to District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman, David Burke is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing Celeste when she was a child under 14. He also alleges that Burke murdered Celeste after she threatened to reveal his crimes and potentially ruin his music career. Burke is accused of dismembering her body, placing it in two bags, and storing it in the trunk of his car for over four months before it was discovered at a tow yard on September 8, 2025. Hochman described the murder as horrific and vowed to secure justice for Celeste’s family.
The charges against D4vd include aggravated murder, specifically killing a witness, committing the murder for financial gain, and preplanning the attack. Prosecutors also allege he used a dangerous weapon – a sharp object – during the crime.
D4vd’s lawyer refuted claims that he caused the woman’s death, stating in a statement to TopMob News on April 20th that they will strongly defend him against any accusations.
