Dan Levy’s New Netflix Crime Comedy Secures Season 2 Renewal

Dan Levy’s dark comedy thriller, Big Mistakes, has been renewed for a second season. The announcement follows its debut in April.

Netflix announced on its Tudum site that a second season of the show is coming, continuing their successful partnership with Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy. Levy expressed his excitement, saying he’s “very grateful” for the collaboration and that Season 2 is already being developed. He promised it will be “wild” and shared his eagerness to release it to viewers as soon as possible. While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, fans can look forward to more episodes.

Levy Plays an Openly Gay Pastor in Netflix’s Big Mistakes

In Big Mistakes, siblings Nicky and Morgan are lost and unsure of what to do with their lives. When their grandmother falls ill, they attempt a robbery to help her, but quickly find themselves in trouble. They’re soon caught up in a series of increasingly risky and challenging jobs that are far beyond their capabilities.

Alongside Levy and Ortega, Abby Quinn plays Natalie, their sister, and Laurie Metcalf plays their mother, Linda. Boran Kuzum appears as Yusuf, and Jack Innanen plays Max, Morgan’s boyfriend, completing the main cast.

The first season featured a strong supporting cast, including Mark Ivanir as Ivan, Ilia Volok as Andrei, Joe Barbara as Mike, Jacob Gutierrez as Tareq, and Annette (Max’s mother). Netflix hasn’t revealed any details about the plot or cast for Season 2 yet.

Good news for fans – Season 2 will be filmed in New Jersey, just like the first season. New Jersey has also been the filming location for other Netflix shows, including Office Romance and The Whisper Man.

Dan Levy Compares Big Mistakes to Schitt’s Creek

Before Big Mistakes premiered on Netflix, Levy talked to Tudum about how it compared to Schitt’s Creek and explained why he hadn’t been on screen for a while. He said it took a long time to find a project he felt as passionate about as Schitt’s Creek. He even admitted that after finishing Schitt’s Creek, he worried he wouldn’t be able to find another project he loved as much.

Fortunately, Big Mistakes was exactly the kind of project Levy had been hoping for. He explained that working on it felt just as inspiring as his experience with Schitt’s Creek. He particularly enjoyed how the show offered something completely different while still focusing on the dynamics of family. As he put it, Big Mistakes is like a unique book alongside others on the same subject.
