David Hasselhoff’s 4-Part Action Series Getting New Release Ahead Of Movie Adaptation

A David Hasselhoff classic is about to roar back to life with Knight Rider: Declassified.

Created by Glen A. Larson, who also made Battlestar Galactica, the original Knight Rider featured David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, an undercover detective working for the LAPD. After nearly being killed, Knight was saved and given a new face and identity by wealthy benefactor Wilton Knight. He then joined Knight’s organization, the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), and used an advanced, artificially intelligent car – a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am named Knight Industries Two Thousand, or KITT – to solve crimes.

Featuring William Daniels as the voice of KITT, Edward Mulhare as Devon Miles, the head of FLAG, and Patricia McPherson as Bonnie Barstow, Michael’s colleague and love interest, Knight Rider had a mixed reception during its four seasons on NBC. Though critics weren’t overly impressed and the show faced tough competition from hits like Dallas and MASH, it was ultimately cancelled due to falling viewership. However, over the past 40 years, Knight Rider* has gained a dedicated cult following and has inspired several reboots and adaptations.

As a huge fan of the original Knight Rider, I was really excited to see the first trailer for Knight Rider: Declassified! JoBlo just dropped it, and it looks amazing. It’s a five-hour documentary that really dives into the making of the show, with tons of new interviews with the people who brought it to life – the cast, creators, and crew. They even talk about how they came up with KITT, which is awesome! It’s a great look back at a classic and how it’s still remembered today. You can check out the trailer below – I know I will!
