According to some sources, the possibility exists that ITV might cancel David Tennant‘s The Genius Game due to relatively low viewership numbers.
The eight-episode run of the thrilling game show, as reported by The Sun, attracted an average viewership of around 661,000 viewers by its conclusion.
The broadcasting company is said to be preparing to axe the innovative game show, as per recent reports from the media outlet.

At first, the show was broadcasted twice a week. However, the schedule soon got altered, moving it to a weekly release format. This change enabled the series to extend its run from the original four weeks to a span of seven weeks instead.
This television show, modeled after a South Korean original, gathered top intellectuals from the nation to compete against each other in diverse contests, aiming to secure a substantial monetary reward.
As a movie buff, I found myself captivated by these games, not just because they put my brainpower to the test, but because they challenged me to strategize and employ cunning tactics to outsmart my fellow players. It was a thrilling dance of wits, where creativity met manipulation in an intriguing battle for victory.
In the show, while certain games originating from Korea were presented, it also introduced novel games centered around strategic planning and societal influence. Tennant played a significant role in orchestrating these events off-camera.
The first episode, broadcast toward the end of April, initially attracted around 1.2 million viewers, but this number subsequently decreased to approximately 800,000. It’s worth noting that the show averaged about 1.4 million viewers overall.
Yet, it focuses solely on the overnight ratings, as viewers can continue watching the show on ITVX, their streaming service.
