Channel 4 is bringing back their anthology drama series I Am, this time featuring Dominic Savage as the creator and Nicola Coughlan of Bridgerton and Doctor Who fame taking the lead role in a new episode.
Just like before, the most recent production titled “I Am” (specifically, a two-part series named “I Am Helen”) has been jointly created by Savage and its lead actress, this time being Coughlan. In addition to them, Joe Cole, an actor known for his roles in shows such as Gangs of London and Peaky Blinders, will also be part of the project.
The storyline of “I Am Helen” remains largely unknown, but it marks the first time the series has been divided into two parts. Previously, the show consisted of six seasons, each containing three separate narratives, along with a standalone film titled “I Am Ruth,” featuring Kate Winslet. The latest episode premiered on Channel 4 in December 2022.
It’s awe-inspiringly real to walk the same path as the outstanding women who have worked alongside him on this project, and I can’t help but feel deeply grateful for being part of this adventure.

Simultaneously, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 Drama at Channel 4, Gemma Boswell, expressed her joy by saying: “It’s great to have Dominic Savage back with us, along with the exceptionally gifted Nicola Coughlan, in the series I Am Helen.
As a movie aficionado, I’m genuinely excited about the I Am series. It’s a compelling and relevant reflection of our current era, and I can’t wait to see the dynamic duo of Dominic and Nicola bring their unique storytelling abilities to tell such an influential and moving tale.
In my movie-loving world, apart from Winslet and now Coughlan, other installments of the “I Am” series have been headlined by Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright, and Lesley Manville.
Coughlan is recognized for acting in popular Channel 4 series like Derry Girls and Big Mood, alongside her roles in Bridgerton. Additionally, she made a special appearance in the 2024 Doctor Who holiday special.
