Tom Baker, the beloved actor known for playing the Fourth Doctor in Doctor Who, recently received his Member of the British Empire (MBE) award in a memorable way – he wore his famous costume, including the long, striped scarf, for the occasion.
The actor, turning 92 in January, received his MBE on Monday, November 10th, 2025, at Hole Park in Kent. The award recognized his contributions to television.
Baker beamed as he stepped back in time, posing for a photo inside a TARDIS replica. He wore his signature scarf and proudly displayed his MBE, which he’d received from Lady Colgrain, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent.
The photos show a mix of people, including both friends and rivals, along with the ever-reliable robot dog K9 and a surprisingly polite Dalek waiting in the background.

In more snaps, Baker can be seen donning a sharp blue suit and a poppy to mark Remembrance Day.
Last year, Tom Baker was announced as a recipient of an award honoring his contributions to television. He’s best known for playing the Doctor on the popular show from 1974 to 1981, a period many fans consider to be one of the show’s best eras.
Last year, the actor discussed the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who with TopMob. He shared what advice he had for Ncuti Gatwa, who is now playing the latest version of the Doctor.

He explained that playing Doctor Who is easier if you don’t overthink things. It’s better to be open-minded and kind. He believes being generous and supportive of your fellow actors actually makes the job easier, because you don’t have to constantly take the lead.
He doesn’t seek out meetings with other incarnations of the Doctor. It’s not out of spite, he explains, but he admits to feeling a little bit dismissive of them – though only mildly so.
He pointed out that no one has truly failed in the role of Doctor Who. While acknowledging the need to be fair to everyone, he confidently stated that he himself hadn’t failed either.
