He recently designed new characters for a remake of the original Dragon Quest trilogy, and it’s now confirmed he completed character designs for Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams before his passing. As a long-time fan, one of the things I’m most excited about with Dragon Quest XII is the art. Akira Toriyama’s style is just incredible, and he really made Dragon Quest stand out from other RPGs for decades. Even just from the little we’ve seen, the character and monster designs look like some of his best work ever! It’s hard to picture Dragon Quest without his amazing art, and I’m so glad he was able to contribute so much to the series before he passed away.
