Dragon Quest’s 40th Anniversary Show Confirmed, But It’s Only 10 Minutes Long

Square Enix will be holding a special broadcast this week to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Quest, just as they announced.

The event is scheduled for May 27th at 6am Pacific Time, 9am Eastern Time, 2pm British Summer Time, or 3pm Central European Summer Time. Luckily, that means I won’t have to stay up late to watch it.

You can watch the show in Japanese with English subtitles. It’s available for streaming on the official Dragon Quest YouTube channel.

Here’s the key takeaway: the broadcast will be quite short, lasting about 10 minutes. This likely means recent rumors about Square Enix having several big reveals are probably not true.

Okay, so the presentation was pretty short and sweet, and honestly, I didn’t mind at all! It started with a little message from Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest, which was cool, and then they showed a couple of trailers. I’m really hoping one of those was for Dragon Quest 12 – that sounds awesome to me!

Honestly, I’m thinking this event is just the start. I have a feeling they’ll use it to build hype for other announcements later on. Like, I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally get a proper look at Dragon Quest 12 here, and then they tell us there’s even more coming at Summer Game Fest next week. It just feels like a teaser for bigger things to come.
