Drake Shares His Dad Dennis Graham Is Battling Cancer

Drake is getting vulnerable in his latest release.

Drake revealed in his new album, released on May 15th, that his father, Dennis Graham, is fighting cancer. He shared the news in the opening track, “Make Them Cry.”

In the final part of the song, Drake reveals his father is currently battling cancer, saying, “We’re fighting the stages.” He adds that he’d rather deal with almost anything else than this situation.

Okay, so Drake just dropped two whole albums out of nowhere – Maid of Honour and Habibti! I’m still reeling! And finally – finally – he’s addressing the whole thing with Kendrick! It’s been months since Kendrick absolutely destroyed him with ‘Not Like Us’ and then swept the Grammys with five awards, and Drake hasn’t said a word… until now! I’m dying to know what he has to say, it’s like he’s finally acknowledging the battle. Seriously, Aubrey Drake Graham is a genius, and I need to listen to everything right now!

Drake’s song “Make Them Cry” seems to center on his personal challenges. He also touches on the financial difficulties faced by a family friend within the song.

Drake raps about his brother selling a valuable chain, possibly stolen, and how deeply it affected him. He feels his brother is acting out of desperation, especially considering how well things are going for their family, and is hurt that he didn’t come to them directly when he needed money.

Drake also admitted that helping family and friends with his wealth and popularity can sometimes create problems in those relationships.

Later in the song, Drake raps about using financial support to control the relationship, saying he feels like he’s the one manipulating things when he pays his partner’s rent – something he sees as a consequence of their closeness. He adds that he also showers them with gifts like a Mercedes and nice clothes, and if that isn’t enough, he implies they should leave.

After Drake bravely revealed his cancer diagnosis, his father posted a touching photo on Instagram on May 15th. The picture showed them hugging, and the caption referenced lyrics from Drake’s new songs, saying, “The Ice Man and The Nice Man just doing what we do, don’t get it twisted.”

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids – non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus – in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that growing up, many girls are told to expect pain with their periods and to accept it as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap to form in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, asking why she hadn’t posted recently. The message jokingly explained the silence by saying the sender had suffered a hernia six months prior due to wearing very tight pants, and hadn’t wanted to share the embarrassing story.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

A Racing Louisville midfielder fell to the ground early in the team’s game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

I was watching the game and it was scary – one of the USWNT players just started to slowly lower herself to the field, with a teammate right there supporting her. Then, just seconds later, she actually collapsed. The ref immediately called for the trainers to come check on her, and honestly, it was a really worrying moment.

Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

“It’s been a really tough time,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors actually told me, recently—within the last year—that my condition was life-threatening.”

He acknowledged that pain is often temporary, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and doesn’t always function perfectly.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He described being in so much pain that he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain worsened during a road trip with a friend.

He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a single squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was accidentally shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.

Let me tell you, I recently had a terrifying experience. I was with a group when someone carelessly discharged a firearm in the wrong direction, and unfortunately, I was hit in the face. Thankfully, Brendan Rooney was an absolute hero. He instantly jumped into action, quickly assessed my injuries, and got me to the hospital right away. It turns out I was hit five times, and one bullet came dangerously close – less than an inch from my right eye! It was a scary situation, but I’m so grateful for Brendan’s quick thinking and help.

The former Kim Possible star shared that a small piece of something got stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against surgery to remove it right now, but they will continue to monitor the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.

Oh my gosh, she actually said she’s just so thankful to still be here! It completely broke my heart, but in the best way possible. She told everyone she loves her daughters, her husband, her whole family and all her friends SO much. And she said, and I’m not kidding, she actually saw her whole life flash before her eyes! It was so powerful. She was begging everyone to just hug the people they love, because honestly, things can change in an instant. I’m seriously going to go hug my mom right now. It just… it really hit me, you know?

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its downsides, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing online comments about her “puffy” face during interviews, she was surprised to see doctors commenting, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her appearance that prompted her to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. These injections, she learned, had caused the condition. Schumer shared that she wouldn’t have known about it without the online feedback. She recently shared that she’s relieved to have a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own and that she’s healthy.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin. She suddenly started having stroke-like symptoms, unable to speak and experiencing drooping on the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often called a ‘mini-stroke’. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey successfully underwent a procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that they were grateful he was going to be okay. It had been a frightening and unexpected situation.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, Foxx explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke.

After surgery, twenty days later on May 4th, Foxx woke up unable to walk and in a wheelchair. He then traveled to Chicago to begin rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC competition show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Oh my god, I was absolutely devastated when I read Emilia Clarke’s essay. She filmed all those incredible battle scenes in Game of Thrones while secretly battling for her life! It started with a terrible headache at the gym, and she described collapsing, being sick, and just knowing something was terribly wrong with her brain. Turns out, she had a brain aneurysm that caused a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a really dangerous type of stroke. She had emergency surgery, but it was unbelievably painful, and afterward, she couldn’t even speak properly, just mumbling nonsense. She recovered, thankfully, but then a scan in 2013 showed the aneurysm had doubled in size! She needed another surgery, and this one… it failed. She woke up screaming, and the doctors told her she might not survive if they didn’t try again. They actually had to open her skull! It’s just… so much. But the best part? She says she’s now at 100%! I’m so incredibly relieved and amazed by her strength. She’s a true warrior, both on screen and in real life.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared how much she appreciates her family’s support after experiencing a stroke in January 2024. She immediately reached out to them, sending a text and a picture, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told Will Marfuggi of TopMob News in December 2024. While she could have left the hospital after the stroke, other health issues, including lupus and kidney problems, required a longer stay. Cori is now recovering well, saying she’s “doing great” and has been working to regain some motor skills. She’s grateful for her family’s help through it all.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described experiencing hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and persistent stomach pain, leading to a confusing array of diagnoses. Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies. This search for well-being lasted for a decade. The physical discomfort triggered deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image and identity. Ultimately, Woodley was able to resolve her health problems and is now feeling very well. She’s grateful to be in a healthy place, both physically and mentally.
