Many Dungeons & Dragons players love the creative process of building a new character for their next adventure. However, creating a character can be complicated and it’s easy to make mistakes. Tools like D&D Beyond’s free character builder can help guide players through the process. The D&D Beyond team is now looking for feedback from players to improve their character creation tool even further.
You can create characters for free on D&D Beyond with their standard character creator, as long as you have an account. It’s a helpful tool for building character sheets. Now, Wizards of the Coast is introducing a new and improved Quickbuilder to make character creation even faster and simpler. This Quickbuilder is the first part of a complete redesign of the Character Creator. The team is using it to test major changes and wants player feedback before finalizing the updates to the standard tool.
D&D Beyond Launches New Quickbuilder As Part of Sweeping Character Builder Redesign

The D&D Beyond Quickbuilder has been updated! While the tool itself isn’t brand new, it’s designed for quickly creating characters at level one, making it ideal for the D&D Beyond team to test out new ideas. This updated version features a fresh design for character creation – it’s more visually engaging with more artwork, less text, and clearer guidance to help you avoid errors. Compared to the standard character builder, the visual improvements are noticeable. Whether this new approach is actually better will ultimately depend on what players think.
Alongside the recent Quickbuilder update, D&D Beyond has revealed a preview video showcasing potential improvements to the entire Character Builder. The video gives a glimpse of the team’s vision for the future, aiming to extend the Quickbuilder’s streamlined design to the standard Character Builder. Visually, the new design is a welcome refresh, as the current interface feels outdated. However, this is still a work in progress, and players have the opportunity to provide feedback and help shape the final product for the official Dungeons & Dragons character builder.
