George Knight in EastEnders might be in trouble after deciding to reconnect with his father, who has a history of racist behavior.
Christopher Fairbank returned to the show yesterday as his character, Eddie, after a two-year break. In a shocking reveal, Eddie told Nicola Mitchell (played by Laura Doddington) that he has terminal lung cancer.
As viewers may remember, Eddie has been in prison since 2024 after being convicted of murdering George’s father, Henry Asare. He and his wife, Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell), first came to Walford claiming to want to reconnect with their son, but it soon became clear they had hidden, troubling intentions.
George learned he had been adopted from West Africa through an arrangement where babies were sent to families abroad. When Henry traveled to the UK to bring George home, Gloria desperately begged Eddie to prevent it.
George’s testimony severely damaged Eddie’s reputation in court, leading to his imprisonment. Sadly, on the very same day, Gloria fell ill and died.

He made all the funeral arrangements himself and deliberately excluded George, not even informing him of the date or location.
Nicola thought the numerous missed calls on George’s phone were likely from his midwife, so she was completely surprised when Eddie answered. She rushed to the hospital and angrily confronted him, making it clear that, in her eyes, he was a terrible person and had no place in George’s life, who she still considered to be incarcerated.
Things have been pretty hectic since baby Ivy arrived, and honestly, balancing everything feels like a real juggling act. Today, it was clear my partner, George, wasn’t getting the full story – I just didn’t feel ready to share what had happened with him yet.

But soon after, he discovered a parking ticket for the hospital and asked her about it. She explained that she’d been asked to pick up a forgotten prescription for Ivy, and that’s why she’d been there.
George realized that because Sarah didn’t want to be apart from Ivy, she had to tell him the truth. This left him with no choice but to go see Eddie in person.
Eddie desperately apologized, saying he regretted everything he’d done to George and insisted he was a different person now. George remained cold and distant as he stood by the bed, while Eddie shockingly claimed his cancer was a result of his past mistakes.

George was shocked by what Eddie said and wondered if there was a hidden reason for him getting in touch. Eddie explained that he’d been in counseling, where he realized he held racist beliefs and had disliked George specifically because of his race.
George returned home and told Nicola he was willing to forgive Eddie and give him another opportunity. But he didn’t know that Eddie hadn’t learned from his mistakes and was still the same.
He brushed the hand of a Black nurse from his shoulder and then shared his intention to spend his remaining days with George.
How will George react?
