Earlier this year, French publisher Nacon reported financial difficulties, and the situation is now becoming more challenging for its employees and teams.
The company’s publisher is currently dealing with financial difficulties, and now three of its biggest game development studios have also entered administration.
That’s according to French journalist Gauthier Andres:
The game developers impacted by this news include Cyanide (known for Styx), Spiders (GreedFall), and Kylotonn (Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown), along with Cyanide’s studio Big Bad Wolf (Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss).
Receivership happens when a court appoints someone – a ‘receiver’ – to oversee a company’s property and money. The receiver’s job is to manage or sell those assets to pay off debts the company hasn’t been able to cover.
According to Andres, this development affects a combined total of about 320 employees.
The situation with the publisher and its studios here is concerning. While a recovery isn’t out of the question, they’re in a tough spot, and there could be negative outcomes. We’ll just have to see what happens.
