Emily Maitlis to front ‘landmark’ documentary on The Epstein Files – 7 years after infamous Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor interview

Channel 4 has ordered a major new documentary series about the Jeffrey Epstein case, which will be hosted by acclaimed journalist Emily Maitlis.

This new series is a follow-up to Emily Maitlis’s well-known 2019 interview with Prince Andrew, which focused on his connections to Jeffrey Epstein.

Channel 4 says the upcoming series will offer an inside look at Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, featuring never-before-seen information, shocking accounts from those involved, and a detailed examination of the people and systems that enabled his abuse for decades.

The series shares the stories of survivors and explores how Jeffrey Epstein was able to avoid consequences for his crimes for so many years.

Throughout my career, I’ve reported on stories powerful people have tried to keep hidden. The case of Jeffrey Epstein is the biggest example of this – a complex network of wealth, influence, and a lack of accountability that ruined lives and was protected by institutions we should be able to rely on. The people who survived this abuse have waited a long time, and I’m committed to making sure this series provides them with answers, not just more unanswered questions.

As a critic, I remember the shockwaves when Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell back in 2019. He was facing incredibly serious federal charges – trafficking and conspiring to traffic minors – and was awaiting trial. It was a case that raised so many questions, and his death brought a definite end to the possibility of a full public reckoning.

He had been in jail before for crimes involving the sexual exploitation of a minor and soliciting prostitution. Louisa Compton, a Channel 4 executive, explained that the Jeffrey Epstein story demonstrates how power and wealth can shield people from justice and allow abuse to go unnoticed for years. She stated the upcoming series will explore the difficult truths revealed by the case – what it says about our society and who benefits from it. Emily Maitlis, known for her impactful interview with Prince Andrew regarding the Epstein case, is leading the investigation.

Daniel Pearl from Lion Television expressed excitement about collaborating with Emily Maitlis and Channel 4 on a new series. He stated that with Maitlis leading the project, viewers can anticipate in-depth and uncompromising reporting on the complete story of Jeffrey Epstein.

Other documentaries have explored Epstein’s crimes before, including a Netflix film called Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, which gave many of his survivors a platform to share their experiences publicly for the first time.

The Epstein Files w/t will air on Channel 4.
